I created the album artwork for the first EP of MAAFIIAR (now called Vagabond), an all-female band based in Innsbruck. The title song of this album, “Lies,” is about how we make excuses for lots of littles lies, which paves the way for bigger and bigger lies to be accepted. I wanted to play with this concept of “prettifying” lies - contrasting the ugliness of the meaning of the word with the delicate and pretty quality of the lacy design around it. Hidden within the lace, however, are still a few darker elements from other songs, underlining how even when something seems nice on the surface, something sinister can be hiding within.
